I went to DC right after spending 3 pleasant days in New York. I only had 1 day to get to know this capital city of the United States. Before we proceed to listen to my story, let me share you my unforgettable experience about my flight from NYC to DC. To get DC from NYC I boarded on a relatively small aircraft. It only carries about 32 passengers. It’s a small plane indeed. And it doesn’t have a spacey overhead baggage store like other commercial planes usually do. Most of the cabin luggages were put in a “store-compartment” located outside the aircraft (it looks like a plane carrying a big box). The most exciting part for me was : since it’s a very small plane, turbulences were really felt. It was kind of creepy. But, as I looked the other passengers were staying cool, so was I, I was trying to be cool. And, it turned out that everything was fine, we landed safely on Baltimore Airport in DC. Ya ya, that’s a bit story about my first experience with small plane. And I think it was kind of cool. hehe..
Soo,,when I only got 24 hours in DC, here is what me and my sister did : snap photos, eat, and shop. Although, there were lots of museums there worth visiting. But, the very little time made it impossible for us to go through all those museums. Moreover, my sister and I had just arrived at late afternoon, when most museums were nearly closed. So, we just did 3 kinds of activities I have forementioned. Below, I’ll present some pictures of us in DC. I group them into 3 different categories : Capitol Hill, Neighborhood, and Culinary. Check them out!
1. Capitol Hill
Capitol Hill is a part of Washington DC where all the government activities take place. Let’s say the White House, National Treasury Building, Library of Congress Building, etc. This area was very quite.
2. Neighborhood
My sister and I were spellbound by the uniqueness of DC’s houses. We were. They spread in different kinds of color. The houses were quite different from those in NYC. We snap photos everywhere, trying to get the best angle. Well, I have to make a confession here, I’m still a beginner in photography, so pictures aren’t that well-drawn through my shots.
3. Culinary
There were two places to eat that we tried out that moment : DC-3 and Georgetown Cupcake. DC-3 is a place that sells hotdog. We accidentally passed it along the way. When I looked at it, I was startled and remembered that I ever saw it in somebody’s blog (I forgot whose blog it was) and directly drew my sister into that place to try its hotdog. We ordered a set of mini hotdogs (it’s not the “mini” size I assumed though) and surprisingly we loved it very much. I loved the sausage and mayonaisse sauce. The hotdogs only consisted of bread, sausage, and mayonaisse. As simple as that. But, the taste was wonderful. You really should try DC-3 when you’re in DC!!
Next, Georgetown Cupcake. It is located in a Georgetown are (an area in DC which is famous for its shopping places and entertainment). This area is much more lively than the Capitol Hill. Georgetown Cupcake is a really famous cupcake place in town, moreover after the famous DC Cupcakes show boomed. Many people stand in a line to taste the famous cupcake, including me. hehe.. I tried the Red Velvet (again) and Vanilla Birthday. While, my sister ordered Mint and Red Velvet. Hmm..yaa,the Red Velvet one is delicious, but, again it’s not at the top of my list (you want to know what’s on top of my list?I’ll tell you later
). Anyway, have a look at some photos below. ![]()

So, that’s a little bit of everything that I’ve found within 1 day in Washington DC. To me, I found this city was too quite for a capital city (if I’m about to compare it with Jakarta. haha). Hmm..Living in DC probably doesn’t become one of my obsession. But, visiting it surely brings different worthwhile experiences for me (and could be for other people as well).

DC was nice I think. Great photos and seems you’re having a good culinary there. hehe..
